Update

I have been in contact with Telstra and for the time being, my mobile number is diverting to my husband's mobile. Please don't think you are bothering him by ringing me and getting him instead....you have no idea that amount of phone calls he gets each day...the amount of mine coming through his phone don't even register!!! So don't be shy about speaking to Mark - if you need to speak to me, give him a ring.

As it so happens, we are on holidays with the kids at the moment, so we are together pretty much 24/7. We are currently into day 3 of a 14 day holiday with 2 adults, 2 kids, a brand spanking new caravan and about 2,500km of road in front of us! LOL. Seriously, we are doing quite well and the kids have been quite good - notwithstanding the fact that Tom has absolutely no volume control and can be heard clear across the caravan parks! We are on our way to Dubbo and Warrumbungle National Park visiting places and people along the way. I am writing up a travel diary on our farm blog so if you want to follow it click here.

Suffice to say, I have internet access, so if there are any orders that anyone needs placed, I can do them whilst away!

Phone trouble

An announcement to let you all know that I have lost my mobile. Very sad :( . I loved my mobile. With a class tomorrow and a couple of weeks away coming up, the timing couldn't be worse. So I want to let you know that if you are trying to call me on mobile, I will be out of contact until I can arrange with Telstra to forward my calls to another phone.

As background, I left it in a hire car in Sydney at about 6pm last night and despite being on the phone to the hire company at 8am this morning, the phone has now vanished from the car. The thing is, the phone is of absolutely no use to anyone. Telstra has put a block on it, which means that not only is the sim card that is in the phone inactivated, but the entire handset is also inactivated and any other sim card from any other company (3, Vodaphone etc) also won't work. Plus, I also had a security code on the phone, so if you turned it on, you needed the code to even start things rolling.

Sigh.....I just know that my little treasure is going to end up in landfill somewhere years before its time.

I'll post when things have been sorted out for me to take mobile calls, but for the moment, if you need to contact me, please email me, or ring 0417 502 400 (this is my hubby's mobile - Mark - and he will pass on messages to me promptly).

Craft Expo

I have been busy this week developing projects for my contribution to Craft Expo. For those that are unfamiliar with this event - and there may be a few of you that know it under another name...Craftfest - it is a big craft expo (funny 'bout that, given the name!!). It is held in Sydney, Brisbane, Newcastle and Melbourne and I am going to be attending the Melbourne one as a Stampin' Up! demonstrator.

Yes, that's right, I will be manning a stand with a couple of other talented demos on the Friday session. So if you feel at all inclined to come along, make sure you pop over and say hello. I would be extremely pleased to meet some of my blog readers in person!

I can't show you my creations just yet, but I can tell you that my contribution for the display is scrapbook layouts. At the moment, I have 6 12x12 LOs ready to go, all of them quite different. I tried to incorporate a number of styles and also a number of techniques on the LOs. For those that can't make it to Craft Expo, I will post them on here after the event, so you can also see the various things that you can use SU! products for.

So, the details:

Craft Expo (Melbourne)
October 8 - 11th, 2009 (Thursday to Sunday...and I'm on Friday)
Royal Exhibition Buildings, Carlton
Cost is $15 per adult, $13 concession, $7 kids (5 - 16yo) and kids under 5 are FREE. There are also family passes, bulk tickets and 2 day passes available - check out the website for all the details.

Embossing class - open for bookings

Heat embossing is a wonderful technique to add that extra pizzazz to your cards and scrapbook pages. The cost per page or card is minimal but the WOW effect is huge! And it is so simple to do.

Come along to this class to see how you can incorporate embossing into your work and pick up a few tricks and tips whilst you are there.

When: Saturday 19th September

Where: old convent complex, 1 Fireman St, Colac (lake end of Corangamite St). Contact me if you need directions.

Time: 1.30pm start

Cost: $20/person. This cost includes supplies to make the projects, light refreshments, use of my stamps and inks and room hire.

Please note, that this class is not about creating Christmas cards, but the photo above shows one technique of using embossing powders (in this case, gold....which does lend itself to making stunning Christmas cards!).

Bookings are essential as I need to have enough supplies for everyone. RSVP to me by either ringing my mobile (0419 373 115) or contacting me via email.

Free ribbon anyone?

Stampin' Up! have released a special this month on ribbon. If you spend over $100 on Stampin' Up! products OR host a $600 workshop, you receive this bundle for FREE. How good is that?

The ribbons are 5/8" Certainly Celery (poly-twill) and 5/8" So Saffron (grosgrain). Very summery colours and will set you up nicely for card making for after the Xmas period.

This gift cannot be purchased - the ribbons don't normally come in these colours - so this is a wonderful opportunity to get something a little different.

This offer is only valid for the month of September. Don't leave it too late!!

Launching....'Class by Mail'

As mentioned in one of the posts below, I am going to offer a new twist to my business. The introduction of classes by mail will suit a range of my customers; those that cannot physically attend one of my regular classes, those that wish to work at their own pace, and those that love my classes and would like to get something more.

Whilst these classes are perfect for those that live some distance from me, they are equally suitable for anyone that happnes to live around the corner or just up the road from me as well.

These classes won't be offered on a monthly basis, but they will be regularly posted. Each class kit comes with the bulk of the consumables that you need to make the projects, however, there will be some items that you will require which are not included in the cost of the kit. These additional items are generally stamp sets, inks, punches etc. You will also have to provide your own adhesive as well (SNAIL, double sided tape or Sticky Strip etc). Where you don't have some of the additional items, you can add them onto your order when purchasing the class kit, and I will ensure that everything is sent out to you at once.

I will be offering each class by mail for a set time period. Payments will be required by a nominated date (will be clearly advertised). Following this date, no further orders will be taken. The supplies will then be ordered, packed up and posted out to you.

In the future, payments will be able to be made via PayPal, but for this first class, payments can be made by either cash or direct deposit into my account. For these classes, I am unable to accept Visa or Mastercard at this time (sorry).

So, without further ado, I announce:

PETAL PARTY CARDS

Create this one-of-a-kind card set using Stampin’ Up!’s Petal Party Simply Scrappin’ Kit. With 18 different cards in fresh beautiful colors, these would make a wonderful gift for a friend, loved one, or just for yourself!

As part of the Class Kit by Mail you will receive all the consumable supplies (other than the basic adhesive) needed to make the projects. You will need to provide: A general adhesive such as SNAIL, a greeting set and Basic Black Classic ink, a paper piercer and foam mat or a 1/16” handheld circle punch, a paper cutter with scoring blade, scissors and a bone folder (optional).

Cost: $45 which includes postage. This works out to be just $2.50 per card! Excellent value.

Please note: this class kit is not available for purchase by other SU! demonstrators. If you are a SU! demo and would like further information about this kit, please email me at sam.simpson@bigpond.com

Dates: The class is available for purchase until SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 13th, after which no further orders will be taken. Postage to you is expected to begin the week beginning the 21st September. At this time, you will also be emailed out the detailed instructions for the class.
