Merry (belated) Christmas!

I am so sorry.  My Christmas wishes have been running a bit late this year.  Even my beautiful handmade cards which had been sitting ready for about 4 weeks didn't make the post until Christmas Eve.  And I blame my husband.

You see, he came down with some incredibly bad bug on the Tuesday before Christmas (just over a week ago) and is only now back on  his feet.  He actually had to go into hospital twice with it.  So not only was I doing the usual scurrying of last minute Christmas gift shopping, finalising the food situation, doing the food shopping, wrapping gifts, cancelling staff our staff party (because Mark was bedridden), but I also had to call in staff for a meeting to work out changes to milking rosters, stock work and feeding out schedules.  Phew.  And on top of that, I forgot to pay my staff!  Argghhhh.  But they are a very forgiving lot and I did catch them up!  LOL.

So.......I didn't get a chance to get back on here and wish all of my blog followers a very merry Christmas.  I hope you had a wonderful day with family and/or friends.  With 3 kids that are old enough to know about Chrissy, ours was very busy.  I can only image what next year's will be like!

Please check back for some pics on our Christmas celebrations, and feel free to check out our farm blog (www.craiglands.blogspot.com) for more family pictures - just give a day or two to get them up!!)

Just before I go, don't forget about the Clearance Rack Blitz that is on.  We are into the second week and I have just check out the list.  There are a few things on there that are already sold out, so if there is something on there...don't delay.  Give me a call or email me to place your order.

2012 Christmas dinner

Last night I held my annual Christmas dinner.  It is getting bigger each year which is fantastic to see.  15 ladies attended this year and they all made a Christmas card which was swapped.  I got them to leave the inside blank (or unwritten on) so that the recipient could gift it away again - hence sharing the stampin' love a bit more!

Well...the standard of the cards was UNBELIEVABLE.  Silly me didn't take any photos of them (sigh), but they ranged from cards with bling, to religious cards, to ones with hand sewing on them (!), ones with multiple layers, interactive cards and cards incorporating techniques that I had shown over the past 12 months.

I was very proud of each and every one.

As for my cards, I gave each lady a card and Stampin' Santa gave a gift box.  Again....I forgot to take pictures of the gift box.  The gift boxes (which were our Kraft boxes on p161 of the catty) contained some DSP, a shaker frame, a spritzer bottle, a pack of SU! playing cards and some festive M&M's packaged up in our new 1x8" cello bag.  For those ladies that were also quilters, I substituted the cards for a share of one of the fabric ranges.

Here are some pics of the night:
That's me in the centre in the green t.shirt
from R: my mum (Lynne), Lorraine, Betsy & Carol
Julie...my tupperware lady!
This is Michelle....our uber talented stamper.  She almost puts me to shame!  She certainly pushes me to come up with bigger and better projects!
This is Terri (holding baby Henry who just had to come along for the night!).  We will miss Terri as she is moving to Canberra in the New Year.  We are very sad.....
The lovely Lil
from R: Marie, Barb and Heather
I think I am missing a picture of Tammy.....where did you go Tammy????  LOL. And my MIL - Judy -  just snuck into one of the pics...she is to the right of me in the top pic (I'm looking at her)

This is a close up of the card that I gave to each lady....easily done.
This shows the two designs I made....exactly the same except different DSP and glimmer stars.
It was a great night and I hope everyone enjoyed themselves and their goodie boxes!

Sorry about no updates!

You know how things can get at this time of the year.......CRAZY!  I have been spending every spare minute I can creating cards, working out classes, arranging stock and displays for various markets and fairs I have been attending and trying to make some sense of my bomb site of an office!  Add onto all of this the general busy-ness that is normal for this time of the year.

I mentioned to a friend of mine the other day that I have to check the calendar not once every few days to keep on top of things, but a number of times throughout each and every day, just to make sure I haven't forgotten something.  Just about every day between now and Christmas has something on, and many days have multiple things on.  Granted, it is not all to do with me, but most of the things require me to ferry kids around, or make sure that RSVP's have been given, or that supplies are on order.

So, this poor blog has been neglected of sorts.  Sorry 'bout that!

I just wanted to let you all know that I will be sending out a newsletter in the next day or so.  Keep an eye on your inboxes for that one.  You won't want to miss it!

I will be placing an order in the next week, so if you are local to Colac and can pick up your order from me, you can save on postage and lump our orders in together.  I will update this blog with an exact date of when I will be submitting the order, but it will more than likely be around December 10th.

More Chrissy ideas

As promised, here are some more Christmas ideas.
This first card is not my design.  I CASEd (Copy And Share Everything) it from another cardmaker, Canadian demo Tracey Wegener.  Isn't it lovely!  I did have to change a couple of things, but you can barely tell.  I did use a retired Big Shot alpha die - Timeless Type Junior Alphas purely because I don't own the current set yet.  And that's ok.  I would like to own everything in the catty, but I can't.  So go with what you have.

How could you make this card?  Either copy the colours exactly (I used Island Indigo, Baja Breeze and Whisper White along with one of the blue pages from the Festival of Prints DSP stack), or change them to your own.  I will make the same card in traditional colours for you later today to be posted tomorrow.  If you don't have the ability to die cut letters, then you could stamp some letters and cut them out, or you could use some alpha stickers that you have lying around (I know we all have heaps of these!).  The Snow Flurry die that I used in place of the 'O' can be replaced by just making that an 'O' or stamp another snow flurry image and punch it out using a circle punch.  If you don't own the framelits which I used to cut the windows and the mats, then just circle punch for smaller windows, or hand cut using a craft knife.

Give it a go and see what your's comes up like.  Remember, this is no right or wrong; only your own!

The second batch of pics are the cards and tags that the ladies made at my class on Saturday.  We had a lovely time in our new surrounds (the Colac CFA meeting room).  The next class will be held in November and will focus on Christmas treats, so keep an eye on here for details about that.  Places will go fast, so make sure you book in ASAP.
These tags were created by using the 2 Tags die for the Big Shot and then simply embellishing with punches and various cardstock and glimmer paper (cannot have enough glimmer/glitz at Chrissy!!)
I used the Hostess set 'Mixed Medley' for the sentiment

This card uses the 'Merry Minis' stamp set and the matching punch pack, both found on p6 of the Holiday catalogue
This card and the one below share a peice of glimmer paper that was cut with the framelits and also a piece of DSP form the 'Festival of Prints' DSP stack.  Simply cut the DSP to fit the card front for the card above and use the scrap on the card below.

If you would like me to demo any of these cards - or something else that is Christmassy - for you and your friends, contact me to book a workshop.  Dates are becoming EXTREMELY tight for weekends, so please contact me to reserve your date ASAP.

Want a workshop?

Yesterday I ran a workshop for all my Warrnambool lovelies, and we were discussing when we will get together again.  And to our shock and horror, we all realised that we are all rapidly running out of weekends in the run up to the end of the year!

So this is a timely reminder to all my customers and blog followers.  If you would like a workshop before the end of the year, please contact me ASAP.  Get your preferred dated booked now and secure it in my diary and yours.  Don't worry if it is 6 weeks away....just get the date booked.

This is especially important if you want to run a workshop that features Christmas cards.  In order to give your guests a chance to see the goodies, the demonstrated cards and the Holiday catalogue, and then give them enough time to place an order to get the products, you need to be thinking of holding a workshop ASAP.

Later today, I will be updating my calendar to show unavailable dates, so check this out when deciding on a date for your workshop (this calendar is on my SU! website...just click on the link to my calendar in the left hand side bar of this blog).  Weekends are becoming a premium time, but I am available to do  most Friday nights and most other nights (except Thursdays) during the week.  Alternatively, if you want to hold a workshop during the week in the daytime, this is also possible.

Workshops take approximately 2 hours and include demonstrations, an overview of the products, a display of cards, scrapbooking and OTP projects and guests all make a small project to take home.

Contact me to book your date and start getting ready for Christmas!!!

Gearing up for Chrissy

As you follow this blog over the next few weeks, expect to see a number of Christmas themed cards and projects featured on here.

Today I have used the stamp set 'Scentsational Season' along with the matching framelits 'Holiday Collection'.  And whilst you can't smell these cards, I have also used the smelly 'Sugar and Spice' embossing powder as well, which was designed to go with this set.

The small cards are simply a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock cut into three to measure roughly 10x10cm.  The Raspberry Ripple mat is 9x9cm and the Whisper White is 8x8cm.  These cards took no time at all and would make perfect gift tags/cards when giving your presents.  The three designs (tree, gingerbread man and cup) were all embossed and then attached using dimensionals  In the case of the mug, I also stamped the steam before I stuck on the mug.

For the brown card I used the Holiday Collection framelits and then I backed the cut out areas with patterned paper from the 'Festival of Prints' pack.  I also used the Early Espresso Core'dinations cardstock and was able to sand back the edges where I had run it through the Big Shot with the Tulips Frame folder.  Again, a very simple card.

Simply Scrappin' kit ...part 2 AND Class by Mail

Ok, I'm back with the cards that I promised I would create yesterday.  I made this entire project from just half of the Afternoon Daydream Simply Scrappin' kit (p167 Annual catty).

This is a picture of what half the kit looks like:

And this is what I made:

There is a card box made out of the 12x12 Basic Grey cardstock and some of the DSP and 6 cards using the rest of the cardstock, DSP and sticker die cuts.

And this is what I have left over!  See, I told you there would be plenty over.  In fact, 2 full sheets of DSP.

Would you like to make this for yourself?

Well, for the first time in a while, I am offering a CLASS BY MAIL!  There are 2 options:

     1. Daydream Card Kit for $25 (plus postage).  For this you will get:

  • 1/2 packet of Afternoon Daydream Simply Scrappin' kit (to make what you see above)
  • Cutting and assembly guide to make cards
  • Bonus card and scrapbook sketch to use the left over bits up!
  • 3 dimensionals
     2. Daydream Card Kit Extended for $45 (plus postage).  For this you will get:
  • Full pack of the Afternoon Daydream Simply Scrappin' kit (to make double cards)
  • Cutting and assembly guide
  • Bonus card and scrapbook sketch
  • 3 dimensionals
  • Bonus 4 extra card directions
The only thing I added to the cards that is not contained in the kits above was:
  • Basic Grey ink
  • Sentiment stamp set (I used Loving Thoughts)
  • SNAIL
  • Sticky Strip (to construct the box)
Contact me to place your order.  If you need any adhesive, or a stamp set ordered as well, just let me know.  This offer is only available until October 20th, so get in with your order.  Cash or Direct Deposits only (sorry...no credit cards for this purchase).  All orders will be posted together, anticipating approximate postage date of 26th October.

Simply Scrappin' Kits

Here is a layout that I created yesterday using one of the Simply Scrappin' Kits starting pg 167 in the Annual catalogue.

For those of you that are non scrappers, these kits are fantastic.  You do not need to use them to scrap with - you can create a multitude of cards, knowing that the elements will all work in with one another.

For those of you that are budding scrapper, these kits are fantastic. Plenty of product to get you going and to ensure that everything will look good.  It is almost impossible to "stuff it up"!

For those of you that are experienced scrappers, these kits are fantastic.  For a long time, I resisted buying them because I (mistakenly) thought that I could do just as good myself buying bits and pieces here and there.  Well I can do this, but honestly, why bother?  Well, why bother all the time?  Sometime, the simplest of scrap layouts are the best and with this kit, you get heaps of stuff all designed to work together.  You can always add to it with stuff out of your own stash.

On this layout, I used the 'Afternoon Daydream' kit and with the exception of the Primrose Petal marker (to journal, do the title and the hand drawn border), some pearls, and a sentiment stamp (from 'Pursuit of Happiness' set) with some Early Espresso ink, the entire thing is done from the kit.  And I have a HEAP left over.  I'm not joking....I should have taken a picture of what I had left.

I am going to use some more of the kit to make a heap of cards.  Actually, I will use just half the kit to make a heap of cards to show you just how far these kits can go.  And I will STILL have left overs.  I promise.

A quick technique tip: to make your die cut stickers (from the kit) into cardstock embellishments that you can layer - as I have done with the medallion flower - all you need to do is grab an embossing buddy and tap it over the back of the die cut sticker until the stick no longer....well....sticks.  Then use dimesionals or foam tape to layer it off the page to create a 3D look.  Easy!

Retired stamp sale NOW ON!!

I have updated my listing of retired stamps.  Phew....you can see that I lost a few.  And these are only the ones that I am not keeping for myself or have not previously sold.  I think I lost about 27 stamp sets when the new catty came out!  Gulp.

Anyway, please check out the listing and if you want any of them, let me know ASAP.  I will be taking these stamps with me to various functions, and if you haven't told me that you would like to buy a particular one, it may sell out before you know it!

I have priced all my stamps to sell, so there are some fantastic bargains to be had.  These sets are fantastic to those of you that might be new to stamping and don't want to spend a fortune.  Please note that the stamps that are in the DVD cases (see pics) are CLEAR MOUNT stamps and they will require an acrylic block to use them.  I can order any sizes you need if you would like.  Just let me know.

Happy stamp hunting!

To see the list of stamps with pictures, go to the "Retired Stamp Sale" tab on this blog (see left hand column for the list of pages)

Winner announced

I'm a little embarrassed by the fact that I have only had one comment on my blog from someone that wants to win my decorated frame (insert sad face here).  I did have one lady email me and another two tell me directly that they would like to win the frame - all had issues bring able to comment on the blog - ....but that only makes 4 in total!  Quite possibly, I think my work is better than it is.

At any rate, the winner of the decorated frame is MARIA. L from NSW.  Your prize will be winging its way to you this week.  Thankyou very much for commenting....at least I know I'm not talking to myself on here!!

As promised in my previous post, I will be placing all my retired stamps on here.  This will happen tomorrow, so I suggest that if there is something you are keen to get, let me know ASAP.  Remember to check out the instructions at the beginning of the page...it has all the relevant information you will need to know.

Update on Christmas card class

WOW.  I have been almost overrun with responses for my upcoming Christmas class.  At this moment, I am already full up for the Saturday session, and given that I know most of my regulars are not on the list yet, I am opening up a second session.

I will hold another Christmas card class on Sunday 21st October depending on numbers.  If you missed out on the first class, this will be your second and ONLY other opportunity to attend.  Click HERE for all the details.  Please note: the venue may change but will be still held in Colac (I just have to confirm).  The time will be the same, as will the cost and the RSVP date.  Get in touch with me ASAP to reserve your place.  I will require a minimum of 4 people to run this 2nd class.

Also, to the ladies that have reserved a place in the Saturday class:  As I have had to open up a second class, I am closing the RSVP date and taking your booking as a firm commitment to attend.  I would greatly appreciate a pre-payment of at least $12.50 (50% of class fee).  You can either pay me in person, or direct deposit into my bank account (I can email you the details).  As you can appreciate, if I have people pull out of the first class at a late stage, it would be unfair on those that were unable to reserve a place on that day.  I look forward to hearing from you.

Retired stamp for sale

With the arrival of the new catalogues, I have a number of stamp sets that have retired that are sitting here.  Whilst I would love to keep them all (after all, I did buy them, so it means I do like them!) once a set retires, it becomes difficult for me to use it on a regular basis.

With the exception of some sets that I know I will definitely use for personal projects for years to come (think Pony Party here!), I will be offering all my sets that no longer feature in a current catalogue for sale.  I took all of them to the Colac Garden and Lifestyle Expo a couple of weekends ago, and a number sold, but I still have more that are desperate for new and loving homes!

Over the weekend, I will be photographing and updating my page with the retired stamps.  Please read the blurb at the start of the page....it contains all the relevant information you will need to secure a set. If there was a set that you particularly wanted, but missed out on before it retired....I may have it and it may be yours!  All sets are priced to sell.

October class - Christmas cards

I know....don't have a heart attack or anything!  I am early this time for advertising my next class!!  However, this class - Christmas cards - is going to be popular and I anticipate that it will fill up EXTREMELY quickly.  Already spaces have gone and I am down to the last few.

Even if you are a regular, please let me know if you are intending to come along.  In the past, this class has been so popular, that people have missed out.  I intend to fill this class first and if there is adequate demand, will open up a second class.  However, don't rely on a second class being offered.  My advise is to book into this one.

In this class, you will be making 4 Christmas cards which you will be able to replicate at home or take inspiration from to create your own cards for the festive season.  We will be using new papers, new stamps and new embellishments.

When - Saturday October 20th
Where - old convent complex, Fireman St COLAC
Time - 1pm
Cost - $25 per person (everything provided)

RSVP is essential by Wednesday 17th.  This may change if the class fills up prior to the closing date.  As mentioned, another class MAY be offered if sufficient demand warrants.  Normal cancellation policy applies.  Contact me to reserve one of the remaining places today!
