Retired stamp sale

Phew.  With the preparation for the Open House over and done with, I can catch up on a few other projects and jobs I have sitting around here.  One of my jobs that will be completed today is an updated listing of my retired stamp sets for sale.

The ladies that attended my Open House on Saturday were the lucky ones to get first dibs at what I was offloading, and there were a number of beautiful sets sold.  However, there are still a number left and at great prices!!

Also, I have quite a few full 12x12 sheets of retired DSP on hand that I would love to offload.  All the DSP is 50c/sheet.  If you require postage, please consider buying a number of sheet though to compensate for postage costs (the 12x12 will be shipped to you in a clean pizza box).  When purchasing 12x12, please provide me with your post code and I will get an estimate of postage costs to you ASAP.

OK crafters......check back to this blog later this afternoon when I load pictures of all my retired stamps!!

Open House 2013

If you didn't make it to my Open House this year, you really must try and get long to the next one (next year though...).  It was a SUPER day and I have had nearly 50% of the guests either email or ring to compliment me on a well run and well thought out event.  It really made me feel a bit special and very pleased to receive this sort of feedback.

As I had advertised, this year the emphasis was on various "playgrounds" - giving the guests the opportunity to play with some of the new items out of the new catty.  There were 5 play stations set up (clay, washi tape, stamp and emboss, new and In-Colour swatches and MDS) as well as a Make and Take, a demonstration on using the Canvas Creations, and of course a whole heap of displays to look at and photograph.  And all this was achieved in an hour and a half session!

Here are a few of the pictures that I took.  Again, a big thankyou to everyone that came along.

If you missed out on the day but would like info, then please contact me.  I can bring a selection of these things to a workshop IN YOUR HOME.

**NOTE: I am leaving this entry at the top of my posts until after the OPEN HOUSE.  For other updated posts, please scroll down below this blog post**

Last year, I held a catalogue launch party in conjunction with one of my lovely downlines, Sharon McLeod.  This year, I am on my own and I very nearly didn't do anything as they are such a big effort to get prepared for......however, there was such great feedback from last year, that I felt I had to offer something again.
This time, I am hosting an Open House on SATURDAY July 27th.  The main difference between this event and the catty launch of last year is that this year's sessions are shorter and each guest will have more opportunity to play with products.

Both sessions (10.30am-12pm OR 1pm-2.30pm) will be exactly the same, so please don't think you are missing out by attending only one.  Both sessions will have:

  • Product playgrounds - get your hands on some of the new items in the new Annual Catalogue (such as the clay, the washi tapes, the new embossing folders, the new punches, new inks, new ribbons, etc...)
  • Demonstration - I will show you how to use one of the exciting products in the catty in SIX different ways!
  • Make n Take - make your own card using a heap of new products
  • Colour Corner - complete your colour swatch of the new In-Colours and the new core colours there will be a door prizes, goody bags, the new catalogues (for those that don't have it yet), light refreshments, a retired stamp and DSP sale, as well as a heap of items on display for you to grab some inspiration from.

Any orders placed on the day will enjoy free shipping.  Bookings are desired so I know how many Make n Takes to prepare - I don't want anyone missing out!!

Nervous about coming alone?  All the ladies that are already booked in are fantastically warm and lovely and I think I am a pretty cool person too!  But, please feel free to bring along a friend!  Just let me know so I can make sure they have a kit and goodie bag with their name on it!

All this for just $10pp (fee reduction available for current club members).  Come along and check out all the new and fabulous products!

If you know of someone that would be interested in this event, please forward my blogsite address to them, or let me know and I will post an invite directly to them.

Some feedback on Illuminate ink

We have had the Illiuminate ink for nearly year now and I have quite enjoyed using it on various layouts and cards....especially masculine ones as it adds a hint of grungy-ness to the project (see the "My Boys" scrapbook layout HERE which used the illuminate ink).

We have recently seen the retirement of the shimmer paints (champagne, frost white and platinum) from the previous catalogue which has left some of us bereft as we heavily used the champagne in particular in our squirty bottles and misters.  When combined with isocol rubbing alcohol, it gave a wonderful glitter to our projects.  At Christmastime, I think just about EVERY project of mine got this treatment.

However, now SU! doesn't stock these paints we have to look to alternatives.  I had been told (and had read on various demonstrator sites) that if you mix the Illuminate reinker with isocol it will do the same job.  I never really experimented before because I always had access to the champagne shimmer paint.  However, push has come to shove and I had to give it a go.

So, my last order contained an illuminate refill.

My experience is that it is NOT to same as using the champagne shimmer paint.  You are not going to get the same glittery effect and it certainly won't be as eyecatchingly dazzling.  The illuminate mix gives you a frosted look (probably more like the frost white/isocol mix) or a pearly look.  It is really lovely and whilst I have only used it so far on strawberry slush cardstock, I think it would work particularly well on darker ones such as elegant eggplant, always artichoke, raspberry ripple, cherry cobbler etc..

I actually like the soft look that this mix gives and will definitely be using it more often.  The softness that it has, allows for a broader range of uses as it is not so 'in your face' as the glittery look was.

I will load some pictures later on that show the difference between the shimmer paints and the illuminate ink (used on both darker and lighter cardstock).  However, I suggest that if you are looking for the glittery effect, you should investigate where you might be able to source the shimmer paints which are made by Tsukineko (a reputable maker of inks and paints).

Got 5 minutes? only took me about 5 minutes to create this scrapbook layout from scratch.  Using MDS, it takes no time at all to do your scrapbooking.  To help me along a bit, I chose the colour scheme of blue, red and white from the Mood Board Challenge #4 over at Jot Magazine.
I know that some of you have shied away from doing digital scrapbooking due to the perceived problems with printing out 12x12 layouts.  I know that some of the bigger shops (like Officeworks, Big W, etc) do have some large format printing, but I have also recently discovered - much to my dismay - that unless you are local to these shops, they are not a simple answer as they are rarely do same day printing.  Frustrating when you live 1+hrs away.

I have found a local printer who does large format printing.  Tim Lucas of Digital Nature supplied me with a few prints that I created using MDS for my stand at the Picture to Page Scrapbook and Papercraft show a couple of weeks back.  When you see your layouts in print compared to on the computer screen, the difference is mind blowing!

I suggest that until SU! release a commercial printer for their MDS software, that you shop around for your printing needs.  Most likely, for the majority of crafters, your home printer will be fine as anything A4 or below is able to be printed using your own printer.  For traditional 12x12 scrapbook layouts, unless you own a A3 printer (or larger), you will need to outsource.

I tend to save mine up and send them off at once as you might be able to negotiate a bulk deal with a local printer (plus, most of them will want to print at least 2 12x12's as this is more efficient use of the printing paper).

If you would like to talk to me a bit more about digital crafting, including scrapbooking, please get in touch.  I am now able to offer in-home MDS intro sessions and with a 30 day FREE trial, you are able to have a play before you commit any money.

A rare and exciting opportunity has become available!  Due to an existing stamp club member unable to re-enrol in the next round of my stamp clubs (aka hostess club), I have ONE SPARE PLACE available.

These spots rarely come up as most club members roll over their membership into the next round purely because it is such good value.  You are guaranteed of getting hostess rewards, you get gifts, discounts and FREE catalogues.

Haven't gotten your brand new Annual Catalogue yet?  Want to get it for FREE?  Then this is one way.

My hostess clubs are all virtually run, so you can live ANYWHERE in Australia and be part of this!  In the past I have had ladies from Melbourne, rural NSW and Warrnambool participate.

This club basically functions like a workshop: one person is the "hostess" each time and all orders placed go towards earning that hostess free rewards which can be spent on any items in the catalogue.

BUT....I have to know in the next week or so if you want to join.  The next round starts on AUGUST 15th and we have to be ready to go with it by late July.

Shoot me an email ( or check out the tab (left hand side) that says "Clubs and Groups" for more information.  Trust'll be glad you joined!

Remember....this is a RARE opportunity that this place has opened up.  If you miss out, another chance may not present for some time.
