Venetian Romance

design CASEd from Britt Bass
Sometimes it is difficult to appreciate how some of the DSPs will look in real life when simply perusing them in the catalogue.  Occasionally, the DSP may look quite different when you are holding it in your hot little hands (hopefully you appreciate it MORE when you have it!!).  The Venetian Romance DSP was like that for me.  I have learnt over the years not to place too much stead in the pictures that you see in catalogues (both hard copies and online) when it comes to patterned paper.  So, in the case of SU!, I tend to order those packs that I am really not 100% sure of and then make a decision.  The chances are, I am not disappointed and even if it were a paper that I personally wouldn't choose for myself, I can think of a number of cards that I can use it for.

So, all that being said, I bought the Venetian Romance DSP and I am very glad I did.  I am very impressed with the designs and colours.  If you are sitting on the fence, I urge you to give it a go.  There are patterns in there that you can use for a wide variety of occasions and also for mens cards as well.

And currently we still have the buy 3, get one FREE special.  That's right...a FREE pack of DSP*!  Hurry though as this special is only good until the end of August.

Making masculine cards

My next class - to be held next Saturday - will focus on the topic of masculine cards.  Many of my followers find this a hard one and often resort to just not bothering to give a card, or give a gift card and scribble on it, or worse, give a $1 card!!!  (gasp!)

But seriously, it is not impossible and whilst a lot of stamps are focussed towards females, with just a little thinking outside the box, male cards can come easily.

In my class, you will make 5 cards (yep...I chucked in an extra one!), that are all tailored to men or boys.  If you wish, you can add a Father's Day greeting on one of them for dad's day in September.

When: Saturday August 17th
Where: old convent complex, 1 Fireman St, COLAC
Time: 1pm (finish around 3.30pm)
Cost: $25pp (all inclusive)
RSVP: by Wednesday 14th.  Bookings are essential and cancellation policy of 50% applies.

If you have never been to one of my classes, please don't be shy.  Come along and have an enjoyable couple of hours, making some cool cards, meeting some lovely people and learning some new techniques.  I look forward to have you join me.

And it's over to you....

Ok blog lovers.  I am knee deep in new products here and am spoilt for choice.  AND because I am a demo, I also have a stack of even more brand new things on their way to me next week, courtesy of being able to pre-order form the upcoming, yet to be released, Holiday catalogue!!  (so why not sign up and get this benefit for yourself!  Order products from catalogues a month BEFORE the general public!  Contact me about joining my team)

So, as I sit here, trying to decide what to do first, I thought I would throw it over to my lovely, loyal and  wonderful blog readers and ask if there is something in particular you would like me to do for you on here.  Simply pop a message in the comments box and I'll see what I can do.  Or, do you have a question about some of the products that you would like answered?  Chances are, if you have a question about something, others have the same question too.

Now I have to add here, that as much as I would like to....I don't own everything in the catalogue.  But I will do the best I can with what I have to show you what you want to see.

Looking forward to your suggestions!

About to Blossom

This MDS creation that I whipped up quickly yesterday features one of the newer MDS releases (last week's actually) titled "About to Blossom".  It is a truly lovely set that comes with a 12 different DSPs, 13 stamps, 60 embellishments and a wallpaper.

In this layout, you will notice that I used a photo of Bella as the background paper.  I simply selected a photo box and made it the same size as my background and then filled it with my chosen photo.  I then reduced the opacity to just under 40% so that it didn't take away from the rest of the layout.

When faced with pictures of an event that are all very similar, a great way to use them all on a layout is to use them as small pictures.  I have created a type of filmstrip look by using one of the frames from the "Downtown Grunge" set.

This is one way to use multiple photos on a layout.  if you are interested in learning about multi-photo layouts, then you might be interested in attending my next scrapbook class on Friday August 30th.  I will put all details on here tomorrow, but as spaces fill quickly - and I only have a few left already! - I suggest that you get your name down and secure your place.

If you would like to purchase the  'About to Blossom' set, or any MDS products, please head over to my online store by clicking HERE

August's release for the "Best of....." stamps

Here is the new offering in the "best of.." series.  This month it is the Best of Shelli (as in Shelli Gardner, CEO and co-founder of SU!).  Ahh, some of these bring back some good memories for me, such as the stack of presents which was a SAB set a few years back, the bird which was out of the Established Elegance set and the heart which was in one of the very first stamp sets I bought!!!

Get your set today by contacting me and placing your order!!
