A quick pic before it goes

Hi all,

a quick pic of a scrapbook layout I completed last night using some of the items out of the SAB catalogue which finishes TONIGHT!!
So what have I used on here that you can get for free form SAB?  I have used 3 items - the Banner Punch, the co-ordinating Banner Blast stamp set and the cork embellishments out of the Sweet Sorbet accessories pack.

On this layout, I have incorporated a few "messy" techniques, namely using good old white paint.  I don't have a particular brand I use....just anything that is lying around.  I dry brushed this onto my cardstock (under the where the photo is and the bottom right corner) and then let it dry (ok.....I 'helped' i a bit with my heat gun 'cause I am pretty impatient!!!).  I also used some chipboard alphas (again, just some I had in my very old scrapbook stash) and I painted them with the white paint too and let dry.  Once these were dry, I used my Real Red ink pad and tapped it on the painted letters and then using my finger, I smudged the ink around.  I then used my sanding block to give it a bit of a vintage feel.

Oh my stars, this has just been a fantastic SAB this year, but you still have time to get your hands on some freebies.  Simply order online (by 11.59pm) or shoot me through an email (by 10pm) and you can grab one or more of the products I have used on this layout!

Last days of SAB 2014

Unbelievably, it is coming to the end of Sale-a-Bration 2014.  It has been a wonderful sale this year and many of you, my customers, have taken advantage of the reduced qualifying amounts needed this time round and have secured yourselves a number of freebies!  Well done.

SAB finishes on MONDAY, so there is still time to place an order and get some more freebies out of the SAB catalogue.  I have a number of favourites in there and will be a bit sad to see them go....

Sweet Sorbet DSP.  This has to be a clear winner out of the catalogue.  Many of you have chosen this as one of your freebies and I am confident that you weren't disappointed.  The colours are just so soft and lovely, and they work in so well with our current 2014-15 In-Colours.

Good as Gold card kit.  This is the first time that I had used a card kit (...I know....) and I loved it. The gold accents just make the cards 'POP' and whomever you give it to will love it.

Banner Blast stamp set and matching punch.  This is just so cute.  I love it.  I have used it on a number of cards and the small size allows you to get a nice banner across a card front.  A lot of the time, the banners are too big for cards - better suited to scrapbook pages - and they tend to overwhelm your card.  Not this one!

NOTE** the Banner Punch and the Decorative Dots embossing folder will be available for purchase in the 2014-15 Annual Catalogue which will be released in July '14.

Contact me to place your last minute orders.  Remember, you can also shop online and purchase through me using my online shop.  Simply click on the image below to start!

Need some freshening up?

I am talking about your ink pads peoples!

As you know, I have been a demonstrator for 5 years now and quite a few of my ink pads have seen me right through this time frame.  And some of them are definitely showing their age.  They are just not juicy anymore, and are stamping blotchy.  Time to fix this up!

Rather than go to the expense of buying new ink pads, you can simply refresh your existing ones by reinking them.  You can buy every colour of your ink pads as a reinker, or you can buy them as colour families (a more economical way to go).

If you feel that your colours are just not stamping as well as they could be, it might be that you need to reink your pads.  Join me this month in getting those ink pads back into 100% working gear!

Exciting giveaway!!!

A couple of years ago I ran a 'Mystery Envelope" giveaway and so many of my lovely customers - both old and new - won some fantastic goodies.

With the end of Sale-a-Bration fast approaching (March 31st) , I thought I would sweeten this already fantastic promotion a little.

I am re-introducing 'MYSTERY ENVELOPE'!  Yay.  And it is super simple to get your hands on freebies.  And let's face it, who DOESN'T like freebies?  Not me.

I have 80 envelopes sitting here.  Each one of them contains a prize.  It could be something small or it could be something big.  You never know what you might get.  In the mix of the envelopes are these prizes:

  • 1 x Stack n Store Caddy (valued at $59.95)
  • 2 x Family of Stampin' Write Markers (value $49.95ea) - your choice of colour

So how do you get your hands on one of these envelopes?  Well all you have to do is place an order of $100 or more and you will be automatically allocated one.  Also by placing an order of $100, you will earn a SAB item for free.  Both SAB and my Mystery Envelopes are cumulative, so if you place an order of $200, you will get 2 SAB goodies and 2 Mystery Envelopes.....and so on.  The only catch is that this giveaway EXPIRES at 6pm on March 31st.  So don't delay.

Easy!

March class announced

So are you like me and have depleted your card stash and it is looking a bit bare?  Then you will LOVE this upcoming class I have for you!

Come along and make 8 cards - yes, you read that right - EIGHT cards.  All using one sheet of DSP and about 6 sheets of cardstock.  Sound good?  Well, I will also throw in a tag as well.  AND you will complete the whole lot in the usual time!

I will post a couple of pics tomorrow, but I was just so excited to get this class announced!

We will be using the DSP that is featured in this year's SAB catalogue as well as some of the stamp sets too.  However, you will easily be able to recreate these cards using ANY DSP (including self stamped DSP if that is your thing!) and in any colours you wish.  I will give you a cutting template on the day which you can keep and refer to whenever you need.

So what are the details of this amazing class?

Date - SUNDAY March 16th (note the change of date due to a course I am undertaking on the Saturday)
Time - 1pm
Place - old convent complex, Fireman St, COLAC
Cost - $25pp (yep, that's right, GREAT VALUE!!)
RSVP by March 13th AT THE LATEST to reserve your sheet.  Numbers are limited due to seating arrangements - so don't miss out!  Bookings are essential.  Normal cancellation policy applies.

Single layer cards

Creating single layered cards can be quite challenging, especially if you are one that likes to use DSP, a little bit of ribbon and some embellishments.  However, it is good to stretch yourself every now and them and remove all this "padding" from your projects.
What you are left with your ability to use the stamps and to incorporate different techniques.  Over the years, I have been running technique groups and many of the skills that I have taught my ladies are right on the money to use when creating these sorts of cards.

For this card, I have mainly used the technique of "masking".  This allows you to stamp multiple images over the top of each other, but not have the images actually overlap.  This is perfect for line art images as you can see in my picture.  It also works well when you are wanting to stamp a few images of different colours.

What makes this card a bit different, is that the entire thing is stamped on a SINGLE PIECE of cardstock.  That's right, none of the flowers have been stamped and punched/cut out.  The sentiment block is also the same piece of cardstock on which the flowers and flourish are stamped.

Would you like to learn this and other techniques?  Would you like to get more use out of the tools and products that you buy?  Then my new technique group is just for you.

I will be starting a new technique group VERY SHORTLY and if you would like to join, please email me (sam.simpson@bigpond.com) with your interest.  The basic outline of the group is that we meet once a month (time to be confirmed, but more than likely it will be a Friday night) and each time, you learn a new technique.  Some are stand alone, some build on the previous month's class.  The cost of each class is $15 and everything is supplied.  The group will run for at least 12 months, with the option of continuing for an additional 12 months.

Cardstock - Whisper White
Stamps - Creative Elements, Flower Shop, Perfectly Penned
Ink - Primrose Petals, Raspberry Ripple, Gumball Green, Old Olive, Basic Black (marker)
